Senior Online Safety supports theToday commences the beginning of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (#ncsam) in the United States.  We at Prevendra, want to keep our families and yours safe and secure. Throughout the month we will be posting daily tips via our twitter account – @SafetySeniors – and invite you to participate in the discussion and share your own. Now more than ever we need to focus on our personal safety and security, both online and off, especially those of us who are in the 45+ age bracket.  The seniors and not quite so senior are targeted by miscreants both near and far. It is perceived we are gullible, needy, too trusting and ripe for the pickings. Let’s set the table differently and take some steps to keep ourselves safe. In doing so, we lower the odds that we will inadvertently find our identities have been stolen.  Sadly, identity theft is a reality, and keeping tabs on your online persona and foot print is a necessity. So during this National Cyber Security Awareness Month, take inventory of your personal cyber security profile. You may count on Senior Online Safety to help you achieve this goal, not only during #ncsam, but every day.  We are creating our own applications and negotiating partnerships, all with the goal of keeping you safe and secure.

Some background on Prevendra, Senior Online Safety and Prevendra’s CEO, Christopher Burgess.  During the 2009 National Cyber Security Awareness Month, our CEO began posting daily cyber safety tips and created the first of his personal blogs to promote online safety and security.  His daily tips were posted to his personal Twitter account during the 2009 #ncsam and his blog, Veritate et Virtute was born.  In 2009, It was quite novel someone writing pieces which families could use to keep themselves out of harms way, and posting daily tips via social media. A few months later, the idea for Senior Online Safety came about, so the domain was secured, and our CEO’s writing was consolidated on his personal site: BurgessCT. In 2013, Prevendra was founded, and in September 2013, Senior Online Safety came about.
